This course covers the basics including nutrition, techniques, and troubleshooting obstacles for a successful outcome.
We have all heard moms give up breastfeeding citing that it "didn't work" after giving it a go. This class is designed to demystify breastfeeding as something for only strong and powerful women with a relentless need to suffer. Breastfeeding is a natural part of mothering that women have been doing instinctively since the dawn of time. With proper latch technique, nutrition and care, breastfeeding can be a simpler, more affordable, more nutritious option than formula feeding. After all, you always have a ready meal available at all times, warmed to the right temperature, and in the right quantity.
Why should I hire a Doula?

As your Doula, I will stay by your side throughout the labor and up to 2 hours postpartum based on your wishes. I ask that you call me at the first sign of labor and I can either keep in touch by phone until you need me or come right over depending on your comfort level and the frequency of the contractions. After your baby is born, I will remain by your side until you are comfortable, and you have had a successful feeding. Then I will leave you and your family to begin your "babymoon".
The first visit is typically between 3-5 days postpartum. At this visit I will typically deliver any photos I have taken, provide lactation support, answer any newborn care questions you may have. The second visit is typically at 2-4 weeks postpartum. During this visit we can go over your birth story and talk about your postpartum experience. I am available to answer any questions you have relative to newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
