Steps of intervention

Develop a thorough assessment and history of the problem to diagnose the addicted person situation also gather information about the family struggles with the addicted person. A basic assessment will be included in the intervention package upon request of an intervention. With the information gathered in this brief assessment, we can begin formulating a list of intervention options and best treatments resources appropriate for the Intervention Person. Each patient have their own set of emotional and mental health issues that is best assessed prior to making a referral to a specific treatment programs.

Supporting and working with your family or business to prepare the selected group and review the steps and process of preparing for the intervention. This is where the group members need to get completely be honest and remember that an intervention is not place to solve all the family conflicts, it is for the family to share their concerns and asked their addicted person to get help. This is not to say that the family, friends and employers have not being affected by the patient behaviors. This is not a time for therapy; it is a time to EXPRESS your truth in a loving approach with the help from an interventionist, as a resource to break the cycle of denial for the patient and for the family to speak their truth.

Treatment planning / statement review / rehearsal (group session), and coordination with treatment programs throughout Canada and the United States. Each addicted person has various mental health issues that need to be address while in treatment. It is very important that Can Am Intervention Service send the addicted person to the best treatment for their specific issues. The interventionist will coordinate this process including the family on the decision by gathering information on at least three treatment programs as well as financial costs and budgets of the treatment programs. The important issue with treatment is to make sure that a referral fits the patient's needs and how best to support the family budget. Can Am Interventions does not work with any one treatment program, however we have many treatment programs that is used for referrals services.

Intervention session will include the intervention group and the addicted person that have been carefully selected at the pre intervention meetings lead by the interventionist with a detailed, orchestrated, and appropriate action plan that is accepted and discussed by all involved at the  pre-intervention meetings. Each group member will be prepared with their written material and directed by the interventionist as well as a mock intervention session meeting  will be held prior to the intervention to make sure that everyone is fully prepared.

Upon conclusion of the outcome of the intervention, we will arrange and assist with transportation of the intervention patient to the selected treatment program. This may include an extra cost for the family, depending on the needs of the addicted person and treatment location.

Post-intervention review and follow up for a 14 day period including such as; case monitoring for the patient care at the treatment program, follow up with family members for 14 days by email and telephone calls as needed, and additional family consulting sessions are available after the 14 day period intervention after care service for family members. Can Am Intervention services will also make appropriate referrals to other professionals as needed for family members. It is very important for the family members to gain support for healing towards their recovery.  Please be mindful that the whole family also needs to change their old ways of responding to the addicted person.
