THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

I want to help you understand the “power of addiction” and “power of recovery”. In order to help families, friends and employers let’s take a moment to reflect on their role in the loved one’s addiction. The tale goes like this:S There is a large elephant in the room “the elephant being the untreated person”. The family, friends and employer walk around the elephant daily, no one acknowledges the “elephant in the room” for fear that they will wake up the elephant.

As a matter of fact, on some days they tip-toe around the elephant to be even more careful not to disturb the elephant or wake it up. Please take note that the elephant (untreated person) has all the power and is holding the family, friends and employers “hostage” to instill the need for control and not be interrupted.

The family members, friends and employers are victimized and have lost their personal power to the addicted, untreated person. At Can Am Interventions our goal is to “break the cycle within a system” in a loving approach and expose the “elephant in the room” and set everyone free.

The power of a group approach is a powerful tool. Through exposure, bringing out the truth in an empathic, kind, respectful and loving way makes it very difficult for the untreated person to continue on a path of self-destruction, and the family starts their healing process towards recovery.
