Medical Director and Chief Executive. After training in Internal Medicine at Stanford University and in Psychiatry at UCSD, in 1974 Dr. Mohns founded the Division of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Scripps Clinic, serving as Division Head until 1997. Recognizing the powerful linkages between pain and mood states, early on he made pain treatment a priority for the division, utilizing modern neuropharmacology as well as behavioral approaches.
Since then, he has worked in private practice and set up the Center for BioLaser Therapy in La Jolla to provide treatment for acute and chronic pain using low intensity red and infra-red laser treatment. Dr Mohns has followed closely the development of rTMS for psychiatric purposes for the last 10 years: in September 2007, he began evaluating its use in his center as a treatment for some of his patients for whom other anti-depression therapies had failed. He is an associate clinical professor at UCSD School of Medicine, a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the San Diego Psychiatric Society.

Jane Blount, TMS technician and certified laser therapist, brings an extensive background as a holistic health practitioner and somatics educator and professional dancer to her work at the BioLaser Therapy Center.  She holds an H.H.P. in integrative somatic methods, and maintained a private therapeutic bodywork practice specializing in deep tissue, circulatory and somato-emotional integrative bodywork between 1988 and 2007.
